How it Works
PlatoCare combines a portable tDCS headset and an app designed to be operated by the patient, with a dashboard allowing clinicians to remotely manage the treatment. The aim of the system is to support patient-clinician treatment relationships, not to replace clinicians.
PlatoApp
The PlatoApp (Android and iOS) allows end users to control headset stimulation, and logs data for adherence monitoring. The app can be remotely configured from the Dashboard.
Dashboard
In the PlatoScience Dashboard, clinicians can manage users, monitor usage, configure available stimulations, and view headset usage per user.

The Scientific Evidence
Internal data and research
While PlatoScience's primary approach to scientific evidence is to support clinicians and researchers in collecting and publishing peer-reviewed studies using our devices, PlatoScience also performs in-house trials to collect safety, efficacy, and novel treatment data. Some of this data will be made available in the future, while other data is only shared with regulators to protect our intellectual property.
Independent research
The core functionality of PlatoCare is supported by two independent confirmatory studies showing strong effectiveness in treating depression. More information can be found on the Technology page. PlatoCare uses industry-standard tDCS parameters; as such, our work rests on more than 25 years of publicly available scientific literature, studying a wide range of aspects from clinical efficacy to safety. There are numerous external sources validating its use, safety, parameters, and effectiveness. When treating depression, tDCS has excellent efficacy and safety data from a wide range of studies and trials based on the same core technology and parameters as implemented in PlatoCare.

We take pride in being available to our clinical partners, as we know from experience that the best patient care comes from combining expertise.
PlatoCare Webinar
On June 3rd 2026, we’re hosting an online webinar about PlatoCare. Here we explore one of the most relevant and evidence-driven applications of neuromodulation, the use of tDCS in the treatment of depression - from theory to clinical practice with the PlatoCare headset.
To guide us through this topic, we are delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Alexander Sack, one of the world’s leading authorities in non-invasive brain stimulation, alongside Morten Gørtz Jønsson (MSc Psych), Chief Scientific Officer at PlatoScience.
